Gatesville Man Commits Burglary While in Jail on Burglary Charges
Here's one you don't see every day. James Anderson was in the Coryell County jail on burglary charges earlier this year when he committed burglary again, this time while in prison. He was sentenced Wednesday.
Rewind to February 10th of this year when Anderson was jailed in lieu of bonds totaling $195,000 for a laundry list of charges. Those included bail jumping, failure to appear, unauthorized absence from a corrections facility, possession of drugs, burglary, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, disorderly conduct and driving on an invalid license. He's been a busy man.
Fast forward to June of this year when he committed burglary again from behind bars while at the jail! Anderson stole bunches of commissary cards (the cards inmates use to make commissary purchases) and handed them out to all the inmates. According to KWTX News 10, Assistant District Attorney Megan Pepper said Anderson was giving out the cards as if he was Robin Hood according to KWTX News 10.
After it was all said and done, Judge Trent Farrell, in the 52nd District Court, ordered Anderson to serve 18-months on the burglary charges and unauthorized absence felonies, and then eight years on the 3rd-degree felony charge of failure to appear.
Oh, and since he can't be trusted, Anderson will now be transferred from the Coryell County Jail to the Texas Department of Justice Criminal unit.
