Governor Abbott Signs ‘Common Sense’ Lemonade Law
Summertime is here and so is the lemonade! Now that Governor Abbott has signed House Bill 234, kids can sell lemonade from private property or public parks according to CBSaustin.com.
As the Governor Says in his video, the 'common sense law' will allow kids to enjoy selling lemonade at neighborhood stands without parents worrying about a neighborhood association blocking or regulating the fun.
After police had to shut down a lemonade stand in East Texas back in 2015, folks have been talking about this law change which has now been approved by the House, Senate, and now the Governor. Two siblings had their lemonade stand shut down as they tried to raise money to buy their Dad a Father's day gift. Now that can't happen again.
The Governor made the announcement on Twitter with a tall glass of lemonade in hand. The new law will take effect on September 1st.
