On Wednesday, Samuel Edward Baker was found guilty in the 1989 murder of Shellie Latham in Belton.

The jury deliberated about five hours before returning the verdict.

A neighbor found Latham in her home, stabbed three times in the chest. The murder was tied to Baker through DNA evidence.

The case went unsolved for over twenty years before Baker, one of the original suspects in the case, was arrested in August 2012. He has been in Bell County Jail since his arrest.
