On this date (March 6th) in 1905, Bob Wills, the King of Texas Swing was born.  Bob was born in nearby Groesbeck, Texas and would be the undisputed king by the time of his death in 1975.

Bob Wills learned traditional music and fiddle from his family, and he learned about blues music from those that worked in his father's fields.  Bob Wills was a star of the stage with his music and topped the charts with songs like his signature "New San Antonio Rose".

Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys went from Waco to Oklahoma City to Tulsa before the war, and Bob met back up with the Playboys in Hollywood after WWII.  He was a star in the movies as well as music, sort of the Justin Timberlake of his time.
