Helicopter Crashes into New York’s East River [Video]
Video published on Twitter Sunday evening shows a fatal helicopter crash that happened around 7 PM in New York City. Two of the six passengers on board have died.
The red helicopter can be seen splashing into New York's East River before turning on its side while the rotor continues to spin in the water.
KWTX reports the flight was chartered by a photography company and was carrying six passengers when it ran into trouble near the mayoral residence Gracie Mansion. Divers from the police and fire departments pulled 5 people from the water. The pilot swam to a nearby tugboat and was rescued.
The FAA says the helicopter that crashed was a Eurocopter AS350.
