Schools
At a news conference at the Texas Governor’s Mansion, Governor Abbott said action would be taken against anyone attempting to block TPUSA in Texas. According to KWTX, Abbott said,“Let me be clear: Any school that stands in the way of a Club America program in their school should be reported immediately to the Texas Education Agency.” Lt. Turning Point USA
The late Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA in an effort to spread the conservative message to young people. Kirk held events on college campuses in which he offered to debate liberal students on various topics. It was his belief that college students were being bombarded with far-left ideology on college campuses, and TPUSA was an effort to provide an alternative view via conversation. The group is also known for having created a professor watchlist, in which students could share video online of leftist teachers pushing their far-left ideology in class.
Club America
TPUSA’s “Club America” chapters operate in high schools. According to its website, the goal of the club is to “build strong networks, spearhead impactful initiatives, help students register to vote, and inspire meaningful conversations about the foundations of a free society.”
