If you are traveling to Waco today there is an alert out for the historic Waco suspension bridge.

The bridge will be closed for construction this week and is scheduled to reopen at noon on Friday in time for the weekend. Meanwhile, the Waco city council is planning to meet this week to discuss spending some $5 million dollars to restore the bridge.

The project would replace the wooden decking on the bridge with a waterproof material. The work would including reinforcing the anchors and replacing all steel cables.
