As if we weren't already eagerly anticipating the second season of FX's terrifying Ryan Murphy thriller 'American Horror Story: Asylum,' with its cavalcade of big name stars and that spooky sneak-peek released earlier today, 'Deadwood's Al f$%king Swearengen has joined the cast.  That's right, the already-menacing Ian McShane will appear on the second season of the horror thriller to "tussle" with Emmy-winner Jessica Lange's character, but who will McShane play?

We're just about a week away from the premiere of 'American Horror Story: Asylum,' but that isn't stopping the series from adding stars to its ranks.  Thanks to that wily Ryan Murphy's Twitter, we've now learned that onetime 'Deadwood' star and Emmy-nominee Ian McShane will appear over the course of the second season.

No details were available of McShane's role at the time, but with vocal timbre like that, we're guessing it isn't good news for Jessica Lange's Sister Jude.  "Guess who's coming to #AmericanHorrorStory Asylum to tussle with Jessica Lange? Legendary Golden Globe winner Ian McShane!" was all Murphy would reveal at the moment.

Premiering on FX October 17, ‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ features returning series veterans Lily Rabe, Jessica Lange, Evan Peters, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conoy and Eric Stonestreet. ‘American Horror Story: Asylum’ also adds new series stars Mark Margolis,  Franka Potente, ‘The Voice‘ judge and Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine, ‘Step Up’s’ Jenna Dewan,‘Carnivale’ star Clea DuVall, Americanized ‘Skins’ star Britne Oldford, ‘Big Love’s’ Chloe Sevigny, French actress Lizzie Brochere, Joseph Fiennes and James Cromwell.

What say you?  Who do you think Ian McShane might play on 'American Horror Story: Asylum?'  Will you tune in for the premiere next Wednesday?
