How many Presidents were actually from Texas, as in born and raised, and how many just said they were?

Texas may be the second biggest state in the union, the first if you only count the continental United States, but we have not produced the most United States POTUS's.

The state that has sent the most peeps to the White House is actually Virginia. The Buckeye state has sent 8 P's to Washington. Outside of Texas, I don't know what my guess would have been but I don't think it would have been Virginia.

Anyway, here's the breakdown on the number of Presidents from a certain state. Out of 50 in total, only 21 have produced any at all, let alone multiples.

Texas can claim to be the home of 4 Presidents but, in reality, they weren't all "from" Texas.

Two of them ... arguably, the most famous of the Texas Presidents ... were actually born elsewhere.

Dwight D. Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas but he spent most of his life in Abilene, Kansas.  Lyndon B. Johnson was born in Stonewall, Texas.

Texas can also claim both Bush's, George H. and George W. They lived in Texas a long time and pretty much seem to consider themselves Texans but they were not born here.

"H" was born in Milton, Massachusetts and jr, or "Dubya" (W), was born in New Haven, Connecticut.

The rest of the list goes like this:

Vermont, 8 - Ohio, 7 - New York, 5 - Massachusetts, 4 -  North Carolina, Texas and Vermont each have 2 and the others each produced 1. Texas, again, could claim 4, depending on who you're talking/arguing with.
