How Many States are Pulling for the Astros in the 2022 World Series?
People sure do hate the Astros. However, not as much as they did last year.
So, here we are staring down another World Series in which the Houston Astros are participating. Yay (that’s sarcasm, by the way).
Don’t get me wrong. I respect the hell out of the Astros, but they’re the enemy. However, it wasn’t always that way. I rooted for them any time they weren’t playing the Rangers before they were moved into the AL West. But that changed everything.
Even though my feelings changed toward the team, I would still root for them in the World Series. That is until the news of the cheating scandal broke.
Traditionally, the California/Anaheim/Los Angeles/I can’t keep up with what city they’re affiliated with anymore Angels are the Rangers’ biggest rival. But it doesn’t feel like that’s the case these days. The Astros are the one team I just can’t root for.
Being a Rangers fan, one would probably assume I am also a Dallas Cowboys fan. And that would be correct. With most Cowboys fans, it’s a toss-up between the Washington Commanders and the Philadelphia as to which team we hate most.
For my money, it’s Philadelphia. I will never go for a team whose fans cheered while Michael Irvin laid on the field with a neck injury that could’ve left him paralyzed and ultimately ended his career. Never.
And you have to figure those same people who cheered when The Playmaker got injured are the same fans who will be cheering on the Phillies in the World Series. Which means I’m in a bit of a conundrum.
But I have a solution. This year, the World Series is dead to me. My plan is to completely ignore it and instead watch the Mavs, Stars, Cowboys, or well, anything but the World Series.
