If you're thinking about getting into radio, keep in mind that the hours are long, and even when you take a vacation day it's no guarantee that you won't be working from home or called in to help fix something.

Because of the nature of the job, I don't do a lot of trip planning. That means I miss out on some crazy stuff that actually looks like a lot of fun.

In this case, it was the 2019 Texas Bigfoot Conference.

That's right - there's a Texas Bigfoot Conference, and this year's event fell on Friday, October 18. If you happened to be in or around Jefferson, Texas that day, you probably saw a few folks in Bigfoot suits running around. Or maybe you saw the real Bigfoot but assumed it was a guy in a costume. Come to think of it, a Bigfoot conference would be the perfect place for the guy to just show up and experience a normal day. He'll probably win a blue ribbon for his "costume".

If there are any bigfeet reading this, you're welcome for the tip.

Anyway, this year's event apparently had some expert guest speakers, and I bet they all had a cool sighting and close encounter stories. There was also a Q&A panel with actors from The Legend of Boggy Creek - a 1972 docudrama about the Fouke Monster said to have wrought havoc in Fouke, Arkansas back in the early 70's.

Thankfully, I still have time to plan for next year, and I know when the 2020 Texas Bigfoot Conference will be held - Friday, October 16, 2020.

By the way, we need a monster here in Central Texas that can draw in tourists. Someone put on a rubber suit and go wander around Lake Belton this weekend. Have your friend film it with a bad old camera and upload the footage to LiveLeak. That's your weekend homework assignment.
