This Coffee Trick Will Instantly Make it Better and More Healthy
Coffee is a necessity to me and so many people across Texas. It truly makes my mornings better, especially as I am at work before 4:15 a.m. I enjoy waking up early and getting my work done. But I had no idea about a small change that can make your coffee even better.
As I was scrolling on The Takeout, I saw details about adding a little citrus to your coffee and how it has multiple health benefits that most people probably don’t know about.
What Do You Mean Adding Citrus to Coffee?
I was today years old when I learned that adding zest from a lemon, lime or orange into your coffee grounds before brewing can enhance the flavor. If you were to add lemon juice to your coffee it would have more of an acidic taste.
So, make sure you add it to your coffee grounds. Plus, citrus juice can erode your tooth enamel.
How Much Citrus Zest Do You Add?
I’m sure someone took the time to try all different amounts of zest in pots of coffee, so there are recommended amounts.
If you like cream and sugar, try a teaspoon of zest for every ¼ cup of coffee grounds.
If you like black coffee, use 1/8 of a teaspoon of zest per ¼ cup of coffee grounds.
Health Benefits for Citrus Zest in Coffee?
Beyond making the coffee taste great, the zest also adds antioxidants and Vitamin C. The antioxidants help reduce swelling and have anti-inflammatory properties. They also can help prevent heart disease and certain forms of cancer.
There were videos going viral for a while about lemon coffee being a miracle weight loss cure, that is not the truth. It’s possible you could see some weight loss, but that would be due to you increasing your coffee intake which can suppress your appetite.
