
Texas Man Admits to Ingesting Meth During Police Chase
Most of us will never know what it’s like to run from law enforcement here in Texas, and that is a good thing. You should never run from law enforcement. But there is one individual who attempted to do such a thing in 2021 and will now face 45 years in prison for his actions.
Just last week, Daniel Richard Simpson, a 38-year-old man out of Malakoff was sentenced to 45 years in prison after making some huge mistakes on one August day in Athens, Texas.
What Did Simpson Do to Begin the Police Chase?
According to KETK, the Athens Police Department were dispatched to the Walmart Super Center after two men were suspected of shoplifting. As authorities approached, the men entered a black car in the parking lot.
After being criminally trespassed from the property, officers found that Simpson had a warrant out for his arrest for a parole violation. That is when Simpson fled the scene.
Simpson Took Police on a Very Dangerous Police Chase in Athens
Simpson was driving at speeds of up to 105 mph as he was trying to evade the police. While running from police, he admits that he was ingesting a “block of meth.” Before eventually being taken into custody.
Simpson Has Multiple Felony Convictions Already
In 2005 Simpson was sentenced for indecency with a child. He also has other felony convictions which include forgery, and twice he has failed to comply with sex offender registration in Lamar and Dallas counties. This is on top of numerous other smaller charges.
