Guess Which Public Texas University Is Best For Veterans
Veterans in Texas considering pursuing a college degree may want to consider attending this university.
As a veteran who grew up in Texas, I can say that our state takes good care of those of us who attend college after serving. I took advantage of the Hazelwood Act after my G.I. Bill had been used up and it was one of the best decisions I ever made.
For those who aren’t in the know, with the Hazelwood Act, all Texas veterans’ college tuition is covered by the state at any public institution for up to 150 hours. The only things you have to pay for out of pocket are books and fees. Check to see if you’re eligible at this location.
So, if you’re a veteran and you’re on the fence about attending college in Texas, that should be enough to get you off the fence and into the classroom. Outside of a full-ride scholarship, you’re not going to get a better deal. And you can still get scholarships, too.
Now that I’ve established the fact that the Lone Star State is a great place to go to college as a veteran, let’s talk about the public university named the best in Texas for veterans, according to the Military Times 2024 Best for Vets: Colleges list – the University of Texas at Arlington.
Not only is UTA ranked as the best public college for veterans in Texas, but it’s also ranked among the Top 5 in the nation.
Now, I need to mention the fact that the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio is ranked the best in the entire country. However, it’s a private, Catholic university, so the Hazelwood Act doesn’t apply.
