There was a recent study to determine the most popular gas station in each state, and to be brutally honest, I’m seriously questioning the result for Texas. And I would be willing to bet a dollar to a donut that you will, too.

For many people, summer is for taking road trips. It certainly is for my family. Even if our destination is only a couple of hours away, we’ll hit the road at least once every summer. It’s an itch that we always feel the need to scratch.

And for my money, road-tripping is as much about the journey as it is the destination. We always plan to stop along the way and visit a new place to try or hit up a spot we know we love. One of those spots is typically Buc-ee's since we don’t have one here in Wichita Falls.

The thing about Buc-ee's is that I only know one person who doesn’t love them. The reason is that he doesn’t like big crowds. While I’m not a fan of big crowds myself, Buc-ee's is totally worth it. I’ll put up with being a little uncomfortable for one of their brisket sandwiches and/or some of their awesome snacks.

So, pair the fact that their stores are always crazy busy and almost everyone I know loves them, and the logical conclusion is that it’s the most popular gas station in the Lone Star State. However, not according to a recent study by Hartley Law.

Their content team found that Valero was the most popular gas station in Texas. Nothing against Valero, but I think those folks need to go back and check their methodology, because that doesn’t make any sense to me.
