It's going to be a pretty nice week for most Texans, but this weekend, things are set to change.

Throughout the week in Texas, temperatures will remain pretty mild for winter in the Lone Star State. Many in the state will see sunny skies and highs ranging from the upper 40's to even the upper 60's by the end of the week in some areas.

Pleasant weather for the most part. But this weekend, a major cold front is set to travel across Texas and the Southern United States.

Arctic Blast Could Plunge Parts of Texas Into a Freeze

As of forecasts today, Monday January 13, high temperatures in Amarillo will go from the upper 50's on Friday to a high of 29 degrees on Saturday. It will be even colder for a few days following the cold front's arrival.

Lubbock is expected to see high temperatures Saturday of around 47, but the cold front will bring high temperatures only around the freezing mark on Sunday and Monday with lows in the teens.

Dallas-Fort Worth will also see temperatures plunge Saturday into Sunday and Monday. Highs on Sunday and Monday are expected to be in the 30's in the DFW area.

Will Texas Get More Snow This Weekend?

While some models have shown a snow storm is possible this weekend. There have been other models that suggest snow is unlikely for most of the state this week and heading into the weekend.

That doesn't mean it won't snow, it's just too early to predict exactly what will happen. Even the timing of the cold front could change this far out.
