Baby carrots aren't really baby carrots. And now I am questioning everything.

A viral video shared on social media is providing some people (including me) a first-time look what baby carrots really are.

What Are Baby Carrots?

If you thought baby carrots we're just a bunch of carrots picked before they became fully grown, you might want to sit down.

There is nothing "baby" about baby carrots. They're all just big carrots that are misshaped and won't fit into bags.

I know! I had a similar reaction when I learned about this.

Thankfully, there are people out there like Potato Ty who is explaining how baby carrots are created to those of us who have been sadly misled all these years. On his TikTok, Ty takes viewers through the process from picking the carrots, to sorting and then turning big carrots into baby versions.

Apparently all big carrots aren't grown the exact size of the bags you see in stores, which is something I never considered until watching this video.

How Baby Carrots Are Made Baffles Social Media

Potato Ty's video pulling back the curtain on baby carrots has been viewed nearly 10 million times on TikTok alone. The comment section has been flooded by people who had no idea how the mini carrots were made.

"I always thought baby carrots (were) born tiny like that," TikTok user rubymermaid_97 commented.

Another commenter said baby carrots have now been ruined forever after watching the video.

"The baby carrots will never taste the same again," TikTok user almapena23 said.

The success of Potato Ty's first baby carrot video has led to follow-up posts diving into the machinery used in the process. One rather fascinating video shows baby carrots flying through the air at rapid speeds.
