Think You Spotted a Gator in Bell County? You’re Probably Not Imagining It
As the weather begins to warm up here in Bell County, I think it’s important that Central Texas stays alert about a couple of things. Summertime is almost here, and our children will be out of school before we know it, which means everyone will be outdoors having fun and heading to the lakes.

Why Bell County Residents Need to Stay Alert Near Water
But after speaking with residents, I think it’s important that we remain very cautious about our surroundings. I was doing some early planning for this summer and was talking with a few friends about possibly renting a lake house in Bell County. The first thing I was told was, “Keep an eye out for the gators.” Immediately, I said, “Excuse me? Did you say gators?”
The Truth About Alligators in Bell County Waterways
I’ve lived in Central Texas for most of my life, and I’m happy to report that I’ve never seen one, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t here. KCENT reported a few years ago on gator sightings in Central Texas. At the time, I’ll admit it wasn’t something I took very seriously or paid much attention to. But now that many of my plans involve spending time outdoors, I’ve started noticing more reports and hearing more residents talk about sightings of alligators.
Stay Alert This Summer, Bell County
Personally, I’ve never seen one, and I hope I never see one up close. But what I can say is this: staying alert and being aware of your surroundings for yourself, your pets, and your children is important, whether there are gators or not. So if you’re headed to the lakes this summer, keep an eye out, you might be in for a big surprise.
