
What LendingTree’s Drunk Driving Report Means for Austin, Texas
Drunk driving is a very preventable crime here in Texas. It is never a good idea to drink and drive here in the Lone Star State. However, in Austin, there are still issues with people driving drunk.
What Data Shows Drunk Driving Is Still A Problem In Texas Overall?
Lendingtree collected data from around the nation showing which showed which states have problems with drunk drivers. Both generation and vehicle types were included in the findings. So, with both of those factors, they were able to ascertain the rankings.
Sadly, there is no good news when it comes to learning about drunk driving in the state of Texas. Most of us would hope there wouldn't be a drunk driver ever again here in Texas. But, for Austin, Texas, issues are still found.

How Bad Was Austin For Drunk Driving Overall?
According to the data, Austin was placed in the top 50 for having a DUI case every 1,000 drivers. The rate 1.32, with the city placed at 32nd on that list. However, the more troubling data includes loss of life.
In another list detailing deaths cause by drunk driving, Austin was placed in the top 15 in the nation. Of the 90 fatal crashes recorded, 37 had a drunk driver cause a death of an individual.
With this, Austin was placed at 12th in the nation for deaths caused by drunk drivers. So what can we learn from this data? It's important to never drink and drive, and remember to have a designated driver if you're going somewhere to drink.
