Crystal Martin, a Bellmead, Texas woman, has been charged with abuse of a corpse and resisting arrest after police were sent to the house and found her father’s decomposed body lying in filth inside an apartment, according to KWTX. Bellmead police officers were instructed to visit Martin’s apartment, located at the 4000 block of East Harris, shortly before 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22. The moment officers came into Martin’s residence, they found a man’s body lying on the floor. The arrest warrant stated that there were multiple dogs in the house, and because of that, there was filth everywhere, and it was obvious that the corpse was bloated and in a state of decomposition.

Martin did not report the man’s death at all. Police officers allege that she didn’t take the proper precautions for the care of her father‘s remains. Because of that, she was arrested and is now being held in McLennan County jail on a $5,000 bond. For the abuse of a corpse charge, you could be looking at a state jail felony up to two years in a state facility. We have no other updates as of now besides that.
