The City of Killeen has released a statement informing residents that city offices will be closed on Thursday, January 1, in observance of New Year’s Day. The recycling center, transfer station, solid waste administration building, libraries, family recreation centers, and senior centers will not be open. However, recycling trailers will be available at the rodeo grounds, located at 3601 S. W.S. Young Drive.

Residents will also be able to recycle their Christmas trees at the annual Christmas Tree Recycling Event on January 3 at the Killeen Special Events Center, located at 3301 S. W.S. Young Drive, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. All ornaments, tinsel, lights, and other decorations must be removed prior to drop-off. There will be no charge to recycle Christmas trees.
