EDUCATORS ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOU THINK

Everything local educators have endured in recent years like budget cuts, their exhausted peers leaving, COVID-19, and the rapidly changing ways we conduct class and hold students accountable is just astounding to me. So many teachers have weathered these storms with grace and determination, and that makes them heroes in my book.

I feel like it was essential that I wrote this open letter to the teachers thanking each and every one of them for being amazing. I don’t think a lot of parents understand, but for eight hours a day, five days out of the week, these teachers are with your child and you have to fully trust that they are going to guide them into being better people who'll be ready to face the challenges of the world.

I don’t think a lot of us always appreciate how fortunate children are to have dedicated teachers. When I was growing up, I didn’t always have the most committed educators to guide me in life. However, there were some real standouts who encouraged me to grow and learn from mistakes and made learning how to correct them fun and rewarding.

It starts in school - the confidence of your child, the education for your child, and most importantly the help for our children to learn good work habits and respect. The next time you see one of your children’s teachers in Central Texas, thank them and encourage them to keep up the good work, because it could be the boost they need after a day of looking out for our children.

Top 20 Restaurants Central Texans Wish Would Come to Temple

A while back, I asked the good people of Temple if they could picture a good restaurant to fill the lot on North General Bruce Drive where the soon to be torn down Long John Silver's stood.

This was before it was announced that a Dutch Bros. Coffee location would open there (which was one of the places I predicted as a contender in our article).

So now Dutch Bros. is open in that spot, but the responses to my survey were interesting because they paint a picture of just how diverse Temple's population is. People recommended some familiar restaurants with locations in the surrounding area, but also a few I'd never even heard of.

Here are the top 20 results of the survey. Let's see what the good people of Temple are craving!
