The incident took place in Brenham, Texas—located between Austin and Houston, and just miles from Prairie View A&M University. Search operations are continuing through the night using land-based crews, drones equipped with thermal imaging technology, and canine units.

In a statement, the district said, “Yesterday, during severe weather that impacted our area, a student from Brenham was caught in floodwaters and is now, unfortunately, missing. Our hearts are with the student’s family, and we ask our community to keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.”More than a dozen agencies, including the Brenham Fire Department, are participating in the search efforts.
