Central Texas loves their sports teams, and anybody wondering that can just look around. You can see multiple items supporting Baylor, the University of Texas, TCU, or even Texas A&M. But, not many remember teams that have since left the area, specifically one football team in Belton, Texas.

One Belton, Texas Football Team Some May Not Remember

Everybody in the Central Texas area has fond memories of the Central Texas Stampede. The team was in the Belton area for five years, and many remember it fondly. So much so that the team seems to be making a return very soon.

However, that team played on ice, and not the gridiron. But there was a team that played at the Cadence Bank Center for a single season in 1998 for the Indoor Professional Football League. They were known as the Texas Bullets.

But, there's a reason that team only lasted for one season.

Why Did The Texas Bullets Not Last?

According to OurSportsCentral, the Indoor Professional Football League was plagued with problems from the beginning. The Bullets themselves needed $6,000 just get the items needed to actually take the field all together.

Sadly, the play on the field was the best either. Per OurSportsCentral, the team was able to play 10 games, with their record sitting at 2-8. However, the money troubles became too great, and the team was unable to play any more games, with their history only being ten games long.

Following the failure, the team rebranded and moved to Austin, becoming the Texas Terminators. The CenTex Barracudas and CenTex Cavalry attempted fill the hole that the team left in 1998, but to no avail.

Now, many may wonder how things would've been if the team was able to play just a few more games.
