What Will Temple Mall Look Like Next? City Progress Continues

The Temple Mall has been on an up-and-down roller coaster in recent months. Some days it was open; other days, it was closed. The uncertainty has left many people wondering what is going on. When I first started working in Temple, Texas, I would visit the Temple Mall and find a full food court and at least 60% of the department stores still operating. As time went on, I watched the mall decline. Eventually, there was only one restaurant left and perhaps 15% of the stores still open.

Why Temple Mall Progress Is Still Moving Forward Behind the Scenes

I must admit that, much like Killeen Mall, Temple Mall holds a special place in the hearts of many Central Texans. It is a place where people go to watch movies, shop, grab a bite to eat, and spend time with family and friends. For many, it is more than just a shopping center; it is a place filled with memories. That is why so many people want to know what is happening with the mall. According to FOX 44, work at Temple Mall is still ongoing. The city continues to work with mall ownership, and representatives will remain involved as corrective work progresses toward re-occupancy. In other words, repairs and other necessary improvements must be completed before people can return to the building.

Why Did The Temple Mall Close?

In June 2026, the city ordered the mall's temporary closure because of unresolved fire and building code violations. Although the mall's future remains uncertain, many people are hoping to see it reopen when it is safe and ready. We will continue to keep Central Texas updated as more information becomes available about Temple Mall and what comes next.
