Jana Kramer is two months into motherhood and admits that things have been going smoother than she (and her friends) thought they would.

“All of my friends have been like, ‘Yeah, don’t take this the wrong way, we totally thought that you were going to be super stressed out, basically have a mental breakdown,’” Kramer tells People.

New mom to Jolie Rae, the "Said No One Ever" singer says for her, being a mother is "the most incredible feeling in the world. I always wanted to be a mom. I’m so happy!"

While she might not have anxiety anymore, Kramer tells the magazine she was anxious before her daughter entered the world. She was fearful she wouldn't know what cry was what and couldn't remember the last time she changed a diaper.

All that changed, though, once her daughter was born.

"The second she came out and we got home, it was like, 'Oh I got this!' The mom instinct just totally kicked in and you really do realize which cry is which," she says. "It’s the craziest thing. All of a sudden I’m like, 'I’m the mom. I got this.'"

Kramer and her husband are headed to Las Vegas for the ACM Awards this weekend where Kramer is nominated as Female Vocalist of the Year. She says she's excited for a few days of dress-up and some one-on-one time with her husband.

"I don’t wear anything nice anymore, I have spit-up on me constantly, I haven’t showered in three days, and I’m not quite sure when I brushed my teeth last," Kramer confesses. "I’m not going to lie, I’m pretty excited for the ACM Awards. I haven’t felt that pretty!"

The ACM Awards air on Sunday (April 3) at 8PM ET on CBS.
