Judge Col. Tara Osborn has rejected Nidal Hasan’s “defense of others” strategy.

At a Friday hearing, Osborn ruled that Hasan will be prohibited from entering any evidence or testimony claiming he was protecting Taliban leaders in Afghanistan from Fort Hood troops set to deploy. Osborn said that none of those killed or injured by Hasan posed any immediate threat to those Hasan says he was protecting, and that the legitimacy of United States involvement in Afghanistan is a political question not relevant to the trial.

Hasan stated his objection for the record.

Osborn has scheduled another hearing for Tuesday, June 17.
