The government shutdown is continuing on, and many in the state of Texas have been trying to adjust. One of the biggest affected individuals are Transportation Security Administration workers. The first pay day since the showdown has come, but no money was paid out, even to those in Killeen.

The shutdown began on October 1st, 2025. The shutdown has affected many things, from SNAP benefits to of course, federal employees. This shutdown has many in Central Texas and across the nation to work without pay.

Yes, we've all seen TSA agents working at airports and helping passengers get through security, but at the time of writing, they've not been paid. Concerns have grown about a second paycheck being missed, as NBC News revealed Sean Duffy, Transportation Secretary, said the following:

"They can’t make it without two paychecks...controllers and those other critical employees need our government to be open and they need to be paid."

According to FOX 44, the airport itself is still functioning well despite the setback that is the shutdown. Per Jarrod Provost, Assistant Director of Aviation though, TSA agents are having a tough time currently:

“They didn’t know how they were going to pay their bills, when their next paycheck was coming in, how they’re going to feed their families.”

Time will only tell when the government shutdown will end and Killeen TSA Airport workers will get compensation.
