It may not be the sort of christening most had in mind, but Interstate 14 has had its first official police chase, and it didn't end well.

The chase began in Killeen when officers tried to stop a stolen Cadillac sedan at the intersection of Veteran's Memorial Boulevard and 28th Street just after 11 AM Thursday.

The man driving the stolen vehicle refused to stop and sped away, leading officers through Killeen and Harker Heights at high speeds along Interstate 14 (formerly a stretch of US Highway 190). The driver lost control at the Nola Ruth Exit in Heights, causing the vehicle to flip several times.

A woman in the car was airlifted to Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Temple in stable condition, while 2 men in the car, including the driver, were transported to Metroplex Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police have not released the names of anyone involved in the crash.
