A burglary suspect was shot and killed in Killeen early Sunday around 3 a.m.  Police were called out to the home in the 23 hundred block of Zephyr.  According to a KPD press release, they found a man with a gunshot wound lying in the backyard.  32 year old Terry Lee Moon Jr. was taken to Darnall Medical Center where he later died.

According to police, the 29 year old man who lived at the home was sleeping,  when his barking dog woke him up.  The man says he saw someone coming in through his bedroom window.  The resident got his gun and fired, hitting the suspect.  The resident then called 911.

The man was taken into custody, but the Bell County District’s Attorney’s Office did not file a complaint pending further investigation.  The resident was released from custody.

Police continue to investigate.
