Killeen, Texas Homeowners & Renters Get High Energy Bill Relief

The Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA) has re-opened the application portal for the Texas Utility Help Program. That means Killen, Texas homeowners and renters can benefit from this program as well.

The Type Of Help The Program Provides

The Texas Utility Help program has opened their application portal back up. The program provides up to a generous $2,400 in electricity, gas, and propane bill assistance to qualified homeowners and renters.

Take Advantage Of This Second Chance

We all know it got extremely hot during the summer months, taking a toll on many homeowners and renters utility bills across the state. When the assistance program initially opened up, there was an extremely high number of applicants. This resulted in the program closing the application portal within one week of it opening.

'Tis The Season

Bobby Wilkinson, TDHCA Executive Director said, "We are glad we can open up energy assistance again and help even more people...While funds are limited, TDHCA is committed to helping as many households as possible gain a sense of stability and security for these basic needs."

How To Qualify

Household income must be at or below 150%, of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines.
At least one occupant in the household must be a US citizen, or a qualified non-citizen.

Wait, There's More

In addition to assistance with energy bills, water and wastewater bill assistance can also be requested by applicants all in the same application. If you qualify, you can get the help you need paying your past due and current water and wastewater bills up to $600. Applicants who have been disconnected, or are at risk of being disconnected will have priority.
