Leaked Video Shows Texas Police Officer Tasing Handcuffed Suspect
KDFW-TV has posted what is being called a "leaked" video from back in April that shows a man identified as a police supervisor using a taser on a man already in handcuffs.
Two weeks after a Balch Springs, Texas police officer shot and killed a 15-year-old boy, another officer is under investigation for leaking footage of a fellow officer using a taser on a handcuffed suspect back in April.
Chief Jonathan Haber says he's concerned about the timing of the leak and how it will affect perception of his officers. Perhaps some more information will help to explain what was going on here.
As the Fox News 4 article points out, the man they are placing under arrest had been arrested some 37 times in Dallas county. He's been booked into the Dallas jail 17 times. Haber told Fox News, "He's been booked in through our facility 19 times and I think 33 separate offenses".
Clearly the police department has a history with this suspect. Perhaps over the 33 previous offenses they had reason to keep their guard up around this individual? Who can say at this time?
Seeing as this is National Police Week (as proclaimed by President John F. Kennedy in 1962), perhaps we should give these guys the benefit of the doubt on this one and wait for more information to be released. At this point, I think we can all agree that we are thankful for our members of law enforcement, and we certainly appreciate all they do for us!
I think of all the great men and women who work along side the radio station at various events in Bell County from the Bloomin' Temple festival all the way down to making sure folks get home safe at Johnny's Outback each weekend. Thank you to all our men and women in blue!
