A Marine is believed to the shooter in a deadly weekend killing spree which left one person and wounded five in West Texas.

The suspect, Esteban J. Smith, was killed in a gunfight with a state trooper and game warden.
Of the six seemingly random victims, one was fatally shot. Three have been treated and discharged from hospitals. Two, including Sheriff Richard Doane of Concho County, remain hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The shootings began around 4:30 Sunday morning, near Eden.
Items recovered from Smith’s vehicle included an assault rifle, handgun, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.Smith, 23, was stationed at Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base, N.C. No motive for the shootings has been revealed by police at this time.
