Movie Box Office: Jack and Julia Win!
Well we managed to eke out a win, Jack and Julia agreed and picked the number one movie at the box office… ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’ debuted at number one, It didn’t have to make much to take the title away from that other horror movie ‘Mama’. The Witch Hunters made an estimated $19.0 million.
‘Mama’, last week's champ, dropped to second place with an estimated $12.9 million, down 55 percent from its premiere a week ago,
Oscar nominee, ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ came in third and earned $10.0 million. I wish I knew what that was about.
Another Oscar nominee ‘Zero Dark Thirty’, about the hunt for Bin Laden, was close behind with an estimated $9.8 million.
If I remember correctly Big Q picked ‘Parker’, with Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez to come in first. We had a good laugh about that. It had a fifth-place opening with an estimated $7.0 million.
It did do better than that Raunchy sketch comedy flick ‘Movie 43’. Despite an all-star cast, ‘Movie 43” came in seventh with an estimated $5.0 million.
