On This Day in Country Music History: Tim McGraw
On this day in 2008, country artist Tim McGraw not only sang songs, but he also became a savior to someone in need. While performing his hit song Indian Outlaw at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn, Washington, a scuffle broke out in the audience right in front of the stage.
McGraw Spots Trouble and Takes Action
From the video you can see what appears to be a man attacking a female audience member, and McGraw wasted no time. In the middle of the song, McGraw stepped to the edge of the stage, identified the aggressor, and together with security personnel, pulled him up onto the stage.
The Crowd Shows Support
After security escorted him out of the concert venue, the audience cheered loudly, clearly appreciative of McGraw helping out the woman. Tim smoothly transitioned back into the song, appropriately with the lyrics "I ain't looking for trouble."
Caught on Camera and Posted Online
A video captured by someone in the audience was uploaded to YouTube shortly after, and the video went viral. In my opinion, it might be the most "country" way to stop a fight. Right in the middle of a song with your boots on and guitars playing has serious "country" vibes.
Quick Thinking That Made a Big Difference
It should be noted that McGraw's quick impact probably helped to prevent things from getting worse. McGraw finished the performance like the true professional he is.
On June 24, 2008, fans of Time McGraw paid to see a concert, but they witnessed so much more. Tim McGraw displayed that sometimes heroes don't wear capes, and they may have on a cowboy hat instead.
