Police Arrest Two in Bryan, Texas After Hazardous Home Discovered
Law enforcement in Bryan, Texas have arrested two individuals who are suspected to have kept children in unsanitary conditions.
Affidavits Regarding Incident Leading To Investigation
Our news partners at KWTX have the story. Law enforcement were alerted to the the home of Calhoun and Weihausen when they were called to the residence regarding an incident. Allegedly, Calhoun shot at a neighbor after an argument about a blocked drive way.
After police arrived, they requested to enter the home and search the home for the firearm. Weihausen did not allow the police into her home, the reason being "she didn’t want her children to see or interact with law enforcement," according to law enforcement. Police then obtained a search warrant for the home, and what they found was surprising.
House In Disrepair
Reports state that investigators had put masks and protective suits due to "overwhelming and nauseating smell of ammonia and feces." Inside, they discovered the living quarters not suitable for the children previously mentioned.
Police mentioned multiple unsanitary items, such as dog urine puddles on the floor and cockroaches, other insects were spotted around the home. Sinks were also not available to use, and only one mattress of the mattresses for the children had a sheet.
Police deemed the house as "hazardous", and Calhoun and Weihausen were arrested. They were charged with four counts of child endangerment.
The unnamed children were taken from the home, and taken by a family member while the home was searched. It is not known if they'll remain in family custody at this time.
As this is a developing story, we will have more information as it becomes available.
