Poll: Should El Chapo’s drug money pay for border security?
Senator Ted Cruz wants Congress to consider legislation he has named EL CHAPO: Ensuring Lawful Collection of Hidden Assets to Provide Order.
This is basically a bill that would take all the seized assets from Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman along with other drug lords and use those funds to provide resources for border security projects. In other words, taking the millions of dollars in forfeited assets and using them to pay for the US-Mexico border wall and other security provisions.
Its clear politicians are trying to find as many ways to fund border security as possible as the stalemate over shutting down the government continues to turn voters off on both sides of the aisle. Fox News San Antonio is reporting Rep. Kyle Biedermann, R-Fredericksburg, and Rep. Briscoe Cain, R-Deer Park, are calling for legislation that would bring in about $2.5 billion to help design and construct the wall.
