Derek Holland pitched 6.3 innings, relenting two runs in a 7-2 win over the Mariners to win the series in an afternoon game at Globe Life Park.

Holland worked through a bases loaded jam in the 6th only giving up one run and inducing a double play. His night ended with six Ks and zero walks.

Mike Montgomery had the Mariners in the game when he left after the 6th inning, allowing three runs and six hits. That's when veteran Joe Beimel entered the game only to give up a bomb to Mitch Moreland. Then, Mike Napoli came up and launched one over the bullpen in left.

The Rangers had gone back to back with two power bats, and that left Elvis Andrus, who had a two-RBI single in the first inning, at the plate. Elvis then left the building when he  launched one past the fence. For only the eighth time ever, the Rangers hit three home runs in a row.

The Rangers have now won nine of the last 10 home games after being the worst home team in baseball before the all-star break. If the team keeps on its current pace, there is no reason they won't be competing for a playoff spot in the first week of October.
