UPDATE 4:38 PM: Police have identified the rider of the motorcycle as 24-year-old Logan Ellis Rainwater. According to a press release issued by Killeen police Monday afternoon, Mr. Rainwater was pronounced dead at 9:42 AM,.

Police have not released the name of the driver of the SUV, but have said they are 72 years of age.

The crash remained under investigation Monday afternoon.


 

A motorcyclist was hospitalized Monday morning after colliding with an SUV at a Killeen intersection.

The collision occurred shortly before 9:15 AM at the intersection of Clear Creek Road and Janelle Street.

Authorities say the motorcyclist was headed north in the 9800 block of Clear Creek, and the SUV was headed south. The two vehicles collided when the SUV attempted to turn left onto Janelle in the path of the motorcycle.

The motorcyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was thrown from his vehicle. He was transported to Metroplex Hospital with critical injuries.

The driver of the SUV was also taken to Metroplex with non-life threatening injuries. Police say he will be cited for failing to yield right of way.
