According to KXAN in Austin, the City of San Marcos is closing down all city river parks in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19.  These parks will be closed until further notice.

Attendance at these parks have surged since reopening, as people are floating the river to get away from this pandemic. However, Hays County officials are saying that people at these parks and tubing the river are contributing to the spike in COVID-19 cases.

San Marcos, resident Jake Mowen says, '“It is crazy and it is still kind of busy sometimes, but people don’t seem to be maintaining distance at all,”

Hays County hopes that closing the parks just before 4th of July weekend will help slow the spread and bring active cases down.
