Sea Turtles Escape Hypothermia, Released Along South Padre Coast
It's been so cold in Texas even the sea turtles needed rescuing!
In fact, January has seen the largest cold-stunning event ever in Texas history. Over 2000 turtles needed to be rescued from the cold winter coastline to escape hypothermia.
Seven hours south of Killeen-Temple some of these rescued turtles got to head back out to see as we visit South Padre Island with this video below from Texas Parks and Wildlife.
Daytime highs in South Padre will be in the 60's this weekend. Perfect weather for a sea turtle release which was open to the public.
The group Sea Turtle, Inc led the effort. Imagine what it's like putting Lower Laguna Madre Ecosystem Team on a business card? Or a t-shirt?
