Texas A & M University is reminding Texas that spring-like temperatures mean snakes are waking up and are on the move. This increases your chance of encountering snakes and the likelihood of a snake bite.
Cases of dogs with snake bites are already on the rise according to the Texas A & M University's Small Animal Clinic. A venomous snake bite can cost humans tens of thousands of dollars for anti-venom according to KWTX.
There are 4 venomous snakes that call Texas home. They include the coral snake, copperhead, rattlesnake, and the cottonmouth. The best practice is to avoid them when possible and to remember that most snakes are 'more afraid of you than you are of them'.
