Soldier Grows Ear Inside Her Own Forearm
Chalk one up for the Army plastic surgeons. They help out a soldier by giving her back an ear.
KHOU11 reports that Private Shamika Burrage, who lost an ear in a car accident in 2016.
In a first-of-its-kind medical breakthrough for the Army, plastic surgeons at William Beaumont Army Medical Center have successfully transplanted a new ear to Private Burrage, which she grew herself.
What the surgeons did was to take cartilage from under her ribs then placed it under the skin on her forearm to allow it grow.
