(KILLEEN, TEXAS): The City of Killeen is offering residents free curbside collection of excess holiday trash. Collection will take place on the first regular collection day after Christmas Day.  Residents may place garbage in plastic bags no larger than 33 gallons or boxes no larger than eight cubic feet. Bags and boxes should be placed at curbside at least four feet away from the roll-out container by 7 a.m. on the special collection day

This collection does not include bulky items like appliances and furniture. A fee will be assessed for those items.

The city collects garbage on holidays, so residents are reminded to place trash containers out Christmas Eve and Day and New Year’s Eve and Day.

The Killeen Recycle Center will be open December 24 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and New Year’s Eve from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. It will be closed Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Free recycling of live Christmas trees is scheduled January 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Killeen Special Events Center, 3301 South W.S. Young Drive.
