The Best New Artist category at the 2012 Taste of Country Awards was near a statistical tie with just 24 hours left to vote, but Casey James's fans stepped up in a big way to push the 'Crying on a Suitcase' singer past his competition. James took almost 39 percent of the vote, beating Hunter Hayes and the Hayniacs by two percentage points.

Casey James and his band have been growing their beards out during "No Shave November" to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The boys raised an incredible $14,000 and after Casey's boss told him that he'd donate a big chunk of change to the cause if Casey would shave on stage, Casey took him up on his offer and shaved his beard off in front of fans at his Shreveport,
