UPDATE 3:55 PM: The Temple Daily Telegram reports that the search has ended. No details on the suspect's name or pending charges have been released.

Temple police, Bell County Sheriff's deputies, and Texas DPS officers were searching for an armed suspect who reportedly pointed a gun at an officer during a traffic stop and fled on foot.

KWTX reports that a Bell County Constable stopped the suspect's vehicle shortly before 12:30 PM for a traffic violation. The suspect stopped his car, then exited the vehicle, drew a handgun, and fled. The constable was reportedly familiar with the suspect and planned to ask a judge to issue a warrant for him.

According to the Temple Daily Telegram, the search was centered in East Temple from North 2nd St. to North 14th near Irvin and Houston.

Drivers were advised to seek alternate routes, and residents were urged to stay indoors.

The suspect reportedly stood at 5'8" and weighed 240 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and black hat. Police said he was armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
