More than 300 delegates from across Texas will gather in Temple for the 2014 Libertarian Party of Texas Annual Convention.

The convention will be held at the Mayborn Convention Center April 11-13, 2014. The Temple Convention and Visitors Bureau said Temple was chosen after a months-long bidding process that included a tour for the party’s site selection committee of the Mayborn Center and area hotels and attractions.

“We are very proud to have the opportunity to host this incredibly important event,” said Nancy Glover, Temple Convention & Visitors Bureau Manager. “This will be the first time that this convention has been held in this area, so we expect to see a lot of energy and excitement.”

According to the party’s website, there were over 150 Libertarian candidates on the Texas ballot during the 2010 election.

On Saturday, Nov. 9, The Libertarian Party of Texas held an leadership conference in Temple  at the Hilton Garden Inn to announce the State Convention in April. The convention will also be held in Temple.
