Not to be forgotten this holiday season is the national issue of Veteran suicide. Our friends at the Central Texas Veterans Health Care System continue to offer events and programs to make suicide prevention something we can all fight even during the holidays.

Coming up on Friday is an event that offers Veterans and their friends and family a chance to learn more about Holiday Safety Awareness. Starting at 10 a.m. on Friday the Olin E Teague Veteran's Medical Center in Temple will provide information on having a safe and happy holiday season along with free cookies and hot cocoa. Even Santa himself will stop by for photos with anyone who wishes.
The holiday season can bring feelings of love and cheer but for some, it can bring unwelcomed guests, stress, depression, and thoughts of suicide.
The staff at Olin E Teague Veteran's Medical Center will talk about the following topics on Friday:
  • Fire Safety
  • Travel Safety
  • Child Safety
  • Healthy Nutrition
  • Crime Prevention
  • Stress Management
  • Mental Health

The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday. Enter through the Valet Parking Entrance to Teague Hospital (building 204) at 1901 Veterans Memorial Drive in Temple.
