Houston, Texas after dark has become a completely different metro with property and violent crimes soaring to staggering levels on the national scale. Sadly, the family of a single mom with three children were showered with bullets just after midnight on what turned out to be anything but a joke this past April 1st.

According to this KHOU article, the mother had just gotten home from her second job that she attends with her children due to childcare costs and lack of affordable care. The children entered their apartment with Happy Meals, and had just begun to eat when a shootout took place between multiple suspects near their home.

In what has to be the scariest possible scenario for any parent, the mother of the victim and her daughter were unloading groceries from their vehicle when the barrage of bullets began striking all around them, and it was immediately followed by a nearly fatal scream.
