Texas High Schools Turn Out 32 NFL Draft Picks
Everything is bigger in Texas, including the number of players chosen in the NFL draft!
NFL Communications says that 32 of this years NFL draft picks came from High Schools in the Lone Star state. This year's Texas draftees included 2 pairs of picks who attended the same high school. Josh Doctson (Redskins) and Rees Odhiambo (Seahawks) both attended Mansfield Legacy High School, and William Jackson III (Bengels) as well as Xavien Howard (Dolphins) both attended Wheatley High School in Houston.
Central Texas has had its share of NFL athletes in the past, including former top prospect Robert Griffin III from Copperas Cove, Trevin Wade (Round Rock), David Cobb (Ellison-Killeen), Khiry Johnson (Belton), Josh Boyce (Copperas Cove), Roy Miller (Shoemaker), and more.
While Texas produced the most players drafted overall, the state of Florida led the first round with seven players chosen. Time will tell who rises to the top!
